Caricatures

OK, confession: I'm NOT a fan of caricatures. They're often really grotesque and look like they've been living in Uncanny Valley for several centuries. And I'm talking the "typical" caricature, like the ones you'd find at amusement parks and magazines. That's why I admire artists who can capture the likeness of someone without giving them a tiny body or just distorting the face beyond all levels of comfort. Needless to say, this project was pretty difficult for me since I wasn't up to drawing something grotesque and uncomfortable. So decided to still exaggerate certain features but also try some stylistic developments, and the project turned out to be pretty fun in the end! I've been working on trying to draw differently since, as of late, I've noticed that I've developed a bit of a formula for drawing. Luckily, I've got some awesome mentors and friends giving me some advice and assignments to fix this! I'm pretty excited and hope that this brings my skill up to the level it needs to be!

Gah, sorry for the rant... As for now, enjoy my two favorite musicians of all time: Imogen Heap and Josh Groban!

Perspective, Part 2!

Three point perspective. It's like two point perspective, except there's an extra point. Our theme was "A Place of Evil" this time, and we all know how great and marvelously wonderfully fantastic I am at drawing ugly, creepy, evil, villain lairs and places.

OK, not really. But it was still fun, mainly because, well, dragons are just fun to draw. My roommate thinks I should add in fire sharks. Maybe next time!

Perspective, Part 1!

This week's assignment: Two-point perspective. I think I'm finally getting the hang of that monster. And old-men-wizard-guys are super fun to draw. Especially Nigel.
