Christmas must be around the corner! Here's an update!
Fell in love with the brother dynamic of Big Hero 6. And I think this is how Tadashi gets Hiro's attention/embarrasses the living daylights outta him. He'd probably sing it in the cafe, in the lab, out in public...

Little Red Riding Hood... But Not
I finally got around to fixing up my Little Red Riding Hood piece! About three years ago, I took a digital painting class and was assigned to redesign a fairytale. I chose to set Red in a haunted mansion.
Here's the old one. Proof that improvement happens!

Hatter Day for Inktober
It's 10/6 today. I couldn't resist drawing the Mad Hatter for Inktober.
Bonus feature! A couple of other Inktober sketches from the last few days!

The Return of Balloon Dude
So... I've had this character floating around for quite some time. It was high time for a makeover.
The one on the right is from two years ago. Improvement happens, guys!
I also noticed that I've gotten WAY faster in my digital painting. The one of the right: At least a couple of days to complete. The one on the left: 2 1/2 hours.

It's the Most Wonderful Time!
Inktober is finally here! I'm determined to do better than I did last year at keeping up. So far, so good. I actually got something done on the first day!
Ballpoint pen cowgirl kicks off the month with a YEEHAW! Weirdly enough, she was inspired by a Journalism classmate's boots. #inktober

Shader Programming; I'm smart!
New semester, new classes!
Surprisingly, Shader Programming is actually... fun. I like that it's a more science-y direction. The first assignment is to model and shade a realistic fruit. So far, I've got my noise, displacement, color, and spec maps. Again, it's actually pretty cool!

Grim Grinning Ghosts
Another Comic Con piece! I've had this idea floating around in my head for a while; Mickey, Donald, and Goofy as the three hitchhiking ghosts of the Haunted Mansion.
Come visit me at Salt Lake Comic Con September 4-6, Booth Green 23!
Also, happy belated 45th birthday to the Haunted Mansion!

Aye, the Force is strong with this one.
After many hours of work, I finally finished another piece for Salt Lake Comic Con this September! Introducing Jedi Merida! Because you know that deep down, you really wanted to see it. And just for fun, I posted my process.
SKETCHING. Nothing is more important than starting off with a sketch. I usually trace over my line work in photoshop to help preserve the original idea I had.
After completing the basic line work, I started some basic painting, mainly to see where I want the color palette to go and what looks best. I also played with lighting.
After settling on a color palette, I refined the painting and added some more details, i.e. the family crest, blush on the face, etc. I also changed up my lighting and refined that.
After some more tweaking and finally deciding that it was too much to paint a tartan design on a time crunch, the piece is completed!

Animals
.... Oh yeah. I draw. Fancy that. And they're cute animals for a video game I'm working on. With BYU. And NASA. Pretty cool stuff.

Sirius-ly
Good ol' Wizarding Wednesdays are back... hopefully. I'd like to keep up this summer.
This week's challenge was Sirius Black. I'm planning on making a Harry Potter card set for all who are interested!

Yes, Some More of This
Can't tell you how much I've been loving getting into this genderbend art. It's a fun exercise and, well, just plain fun!
These are my genderbends of the 11th and 9th Doctors, along with Rose Tyler (Ross... Tyler?) and 10.
You Roxas My Soxas!
Anyone else remember this being the go-to line when Kingdom Hearts II came out? I know it was among me and all my 12-14 year old friends at the time!
I'll be making some stickers of this September's Salt lake Comic Con!

Caricatures
Do you guys remember the NY Times article that featured the BYU animation program? A few of us were asked to draw caricatures of ourselves that were featured next to our photos. You can read the article here:

This is the caricature I drew from the article. Still like my old one more.
Here, have some other caricatures.

"Run, you clever boy."
On a happier note, I did pretty well at Salt Lake Comic Con Fan X! I can't wait for the September con! In the meantime, have some more Doctor Who art drew and sold.
By the way, you're fired
Yeah, I got a mass email for everyone in my department... We're being let go by the end of summer.
Despite this, I still have high hopes as I look into new and exciting options. I believe that this will be a change for the better!
And, despite my initial panic when I read the email, I couldn't help but think of this.

Sora and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
Here's another Comic Con piece! Ever since Epic Mickey and the announcement of Kingdom Hearts III, I thought that it'd be awesome if Oswald made an appearance. Besides, Riku has got Mickey as his pal, so it only makes sense that Sora should get Oswald.
Come to the Salt Lake Comic Con Fan Experience this April 17-19! I'll be there on Thursday and Friday!

Yes, it's a bit late, but better late than never, right?
I spent most of my Valentine's Day in the company of this fellow. And drawing caricatures for my new job!

Drawings on a Plane
Airplanes and airports. So many people. Long, boring hours. A pencil case brimming with ballpoint pens. What better place to get some gesture drawing in?
Did these on my flight back to school. Here's to the new semester!

Happy New Year!
What better way to bring in the New Year than with good ol' Severus Snape in Mrs. Longbottom's wardrobe? Done for Wizarding Wednesday!
Happy New Year, everyone! Here's to 2014!
Snape belongs to J.K. Rowling
