Film Work

Here's some more art I'm doing for a new film. I had a lot to do over this Christmas break, but I like these the best.

And in case I don't get to post anything tomorrow, Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

I made something for ya! I decided to do a better version of that Tangled Christmas thing I tried last year. Meh. Flynn=hard to draw. Yeesh, Jin Kim and Glen Keane... only you can draw Flynn and make him glorious.

So, once again, I have failed to find Rapunzel and Flynn Christmas merchandise as put out by Disney, so I made up my own. This'll hopefully be my Christmas card this year for my cool family people! Oh, and I have once again failed to find out what is manly Christmas attire. So, Flynn gets fuzzy gloves and a scarf. And I made it a wallpaper size for anyone who's bold enough to plaster my art onto their desktop!

So, thanks for reading my rambles and perusing my art guys! Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Progress

Just workin' on some stuff. Inspired a bit by Final Fantasy art. And, yes, this is the return of the buff grandma.

Pretty proud of myself... all the linework and sketching was done in Photoshop. I usually do the linework in my sketchbook, scan it in, and go over it in Photoshop. Not this time! Wacom tablet for the win!

Now I should work on getting some sleep...

Flyers - Weeks 7, 8, 9

Christmas is five days away! With that little reminder, I have now successfully given heart attacks to everyone who hasn't done their shopping yet! So, with that spirit of giving in mind, I give you all some Christmas-themed flyers! Sorry I've gotten off-track with posting them; life has been nuts lately and I'm finally able to relax and forget about school and stuff for a while!

I picture this little elf-guy decorating somewhere in Santa's workshop with some little whirly-gig device so he can reach the top of the tree. I also got to watch "Prep and Landing" for the first time, and it's quite awesome! The designs and general Christmas-ness of the jokes and codewords they use are fantastic! I really wanna see the sequel now... This was inspired by the holiday addition of "Peace On Earth" attached at the end of "Illuminations: Reflections of Earth" at EPCOT. There's this really neat laser projection of a dove flying above the World Showcase Lagoon, along with a beautiful choir numbers and a banillion fireworks of Christmas awesome. And what Christmas collection would be complete without an angel? I have no idea if the angel who appeared to the shepherds was a man or a woman, but it wasn't until I was done sketching that I found an uncanny resemblance between this angel and a certain girl I draw with an umbrella... perhaps the umbrella girl is an angel, after all!

Doing Art for Fun? Is that possible?

Yes it is! And you can, too!!!! Vote for me for president and EVERYONE can do art for fun!

Now that I've finished my presidential campaign and finished finals today, I'm counting down the days till I flee to California again... as in home! :D

While I work on my flyers and a Christmas picture for y'all, here's something I doodled at CTN and colored. Just experimenting with different shapes and styles and stuff. I want to make it more refined than this... someday.
No, it's not Rogue. I just wanted to draw the stripey hair deal. And stripey socks. And stripey... you get the idea.

50th post!!!

Huzzah! This must mean I'm doing a good job on this blog thing!

And I finished my Digital Painting final! I like this one way more than my character midterm, probably because I know more about digital painting now than I did then. It was a whole mess of fun and I'm not even gonna try to count the hours that went into this thing. But, I consider this project a success!

Here's one of the other frames from my storyboarding final. Judging by the satisfied, sweet "Aahh..." that issued from the class when I showed it, I think it went over pretty well.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go celebrate being done with all my art finals by studying for my French final. Yay.

Finals!!!

Here's some work that I've done throughout the course of the semester for 3-D modeling and Digital Painting. Both are still more or less works in progress (especially digital painting, since I haven't turned that one in yet!) until they are portfolio-worthy, but here's what I got! Gah... still such a long ways to go... I'm still working on the arrangement of my objects in the still life thing. But I had a blast using Mudbox! Holy cow! SO much easier to do texturing and detail with that then with Maya! And I'm super happy with my progress in Digital Painting! I'm starting to really like environment design!

Now, I must go work on Storyboarding. Expect some images from that soon!

Used Maya, Mudbox, and Photoshop for 3-D
Used Photoshop for Digital Painting

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!RETURN OF THE UMBRELLA GIRL!!!!

Here are some examples of my storyboard-in-progress. I'm going for a storybook style; just really soft and colorful. I had a lot of fun designing the judges in the bottom image in making them fit in the style of my main character, but still make them ostentatious and showy.

Flyers - Weeks 4, 5, 6

Sorry for the lateness, guys... what with traveling and finals approaching, I haven't had the time to make a post... but at least I'm still drawing! And to compensate, I did two flyers this week! None of these images are as done as I'd like them to be... they're more like sketches of ideas. I really want to finish them sometime since I'm aiming to make a book out of these flyers.

Don't like this one so much... the proportions are wrong, the hands are ugly... but the energy is fun! If you can't tell, he's riding a magic carpet.
And what set of flyers would be complete without Harry Potter? Drawing people on broomsticks is hard, but drawing people falling off broomsticks is way more fun.
This one is based on the Russian tale of the Firebird, who can turn into a woman and a bird. I like her profile; it's really different from what I usually do.
I was inspired by the Nutcracker sequence from Fantasia for this one. I even cut out a little snowflake from tissue paper, which proved to be more trouble than regular paper, so... lesson learned!
